USPS essay
The question is: The United States Postal Service (USPS) has experienced major financial problems in the last several years. What environmental and marketing challenges add to the USPS troubles?
The answer: The first challenge is connected with the growing role of the Internet and electronic mail, because letters become less popular than even a decade ago, and people decide to send each other virtual electronic messages instead of ordinary paper ones. In addition, people began to use the Internet for the purpose to pay bills, to deliver books, magazines and newspapers. The next challenge is regulations that raise the costs of operations in several times, while it is prohibited by the law to raise postage fees faster than inflation. The lack of the right organization is also a kind of challenge, because the USPS is badly trying to adapt to new market conditions, and to occupy its legitimate place in the delivery of various goods purchased in the frames of e-commerce. Thus, the USPS has never been as close to the edge of its financial precipice as it is today.
