Is there anything more mysterious and magnetic than the secrets of infinite space? In July 1968 Neil Armstrong landed on the moon and made a serious step forward in human exploration of our Universe. Being a skilled and experienced pilot and aerospace engineer, he won credit for this responsible and highly important mission. On July 16, Neil received a key to the moon to make “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

There was a long discussion whom to send to the Earth’s satellite, and finally decision was made properly. Having 10 years of astronaut experience, Neil Armstrong was appointed as a commander of Apollo 11. His assistants were lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin and command module pilot Michael Collins, also well-trained and thoroughly instructed specialists.

Although team members were well-trained, it goes without saying that there were certain difficulties and not all the planned actions could be taken. Fir example, craters were passing about two seconds too earl in three minutes before the lunar descent burn, so the planned landing zone could not be targeted perfectly. Computer alarms soon were reported from CAPCOM as overflow condition was caused. Armstrong had to take manual control, because the landing area they were going to looked unsafe. Nevertheless, they reached the surface of the moon successfully and the mission went by.

Together with Aldrin, Armstrong performed exploration and placed the U.S. flag on the moon. All in all, the crew of Apollo 11 spent two and a half hours there. The period was rather short, but it opened the doors for further flights and research, as the mankind realized its unlimited opportunities and power.

In this way, it was the beginning of a new era in space exploration and it provided much new knowledge for further development of airspace industry.
