Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure essay
Failures occur to any person. At first glance, they are disappointing and depressing but, on a profound reflection, it turns out that failure may be useful since they provide individuals with valuable experience and teach them lessons, which they will remember for a long time. At any rate, I can refer to my personal experience, which has proved to be quite harmful for me at first, but very useful in a long run. In fact, I would recall my failure to win the prize in the Model United Club India competition, where I failed to win the best delegate award.
In the time, when I failed to win the award because I expected to came first but I had not reached even the top 5. I was just frustrated and desperate because I could never believe that I would fail the win the competition and fail to become the winner of the best delegate award. Before the test, I was deadly sure that I would pass it easily without any troubles. This was probably why I did not pay much attention to it and I did not even try to prepare somehow for the competition. Instead, I just came expecting to come back home with a reward won without any efforts.
However, my come-and-win mood faded away soon as I found that the competition had proved to be too challenging for me and I eventually failed to win the best delegate award. In fact, I was the MUD President and was too ambitious but I underestimated my skills and abilities for the time being. This is why I failed
However, when I got home and started to analyze my failure, it occurred to me that there was really nothing difficult in the competition. The problem was in me, especially in my negligent attitude to the competition. As a result, I just cam unprepared and relaxed. Such attitude was absolutely unacceptable and this was why I failed the competition. At the same time, I overestimated my skills and abilities probably because I had won the prize before but, as I failed, it occurred to my mind that I had stopped progressing.
Frankly, I expected to win using my experience and skills, which I had already acquired and which had already helped me to win in the previous years. However, as I failed, I became fully aware of the importance of keeping progressing all the time. One cannot stop in his/her progress. Otherwise, rivals will outpace as was the case with me. I expected to win easy but the competition had turned into the total failure for me. As a result, this failure was the hard but important lesson for me to learn.
In fact, it is due to this failure, I am now always concerned with my personal and professional development. I am always working on the improvement of my skills and expansion of my knowledge because I understand that, if I stop, I will become a loser and I will be unable to compete at the top level. This is why now I highly appreciate my failure experience I have had.
