It is known that individual ethical decision making can be referred to all the key individuals in the organization such as managers, executives and employees. However, sometimes they do not make the best decisions. It can ruin the psychological atmosphere in the group. All of them face some ethical dilemma. We can find several ethical systems which were at work for key individuals in the organization in the Chapter 4. They are the following ones:
Deontological ethical system. It is characterized by a focus on some independent moral rules and duties which can be understood differently by different people. When the key individuals follow their duty it means that they behave morally, but if they do not follow their duties they will behave immorally. Deontological system has some difficulties which are connected with devastating consequences. Some philosophers consider that such deontological principals as truth telling or promise keeping are not absolute as they can violate the existed rules.
Teleological ethical system. It is is characterized by the focusing on the consequences of any action performed by the individual- consequentalist moral systems. In order to make a correct decision the key individuals in the organization were to understand the results of their decisions. Incorrect consequences denote that they acted immorally.
Virtue ethics. It focuses mainly on the integrity of moral factor. Virtue ethics depends on the character of the individual, on his motivations and intentions. It is characterized by a focus on developing good traits of the individual’s character such as kindness, generosity. Virtue ethics gives an opportunity to rely on relevant community standards. In business virtue ethics is limited because the standards are limited too. For example, there is no some certain universal code of conduct for all managers.
