1. I agree that hypocrisy is used to gloss over the purpose. In our society, people quickly tell about their moral ideas, rights, or religious beliefs showing their characters, features, or principles that they do not really possess. Often these people do not follow certain rules or norms themselves. They show that they keep laws, principles, and policies; they are able to judge others, set rules, and have moral values, but on the whole, they continue doing wrong things and follow inadequate behaviors and wrong concepts. In case of experience with bureaucracies, there is anything unfair or injustice. Moreover, a lot of people feel that bureaucracy is absolutely necessary. But there is another side of the coin where bureaucracy may cause a destructive effect on society.
2. Common good is the good and well-being of people, benefits all individuals in society. “Free and cost-effective flu vaccinations” are a good example of the common good. Our personal and professional life offers us a lot of possibilities for common good. And in spite of our differences or attitudes, I think we should work for this common good starting by cleaning the parks, volunteering, tutoring children, and ending with attempts to change ineffective policies in the workplace or within the environment. When it comes to U.S. policies such as Welfare Reform Act, they serve the common good, provide multiple benefits, and positively affect society.
3. Gawthrop encourages moral goodness and passion as guidance for public servants. You said that we should work to build each other, not work against each other. It is important to help each other, support those around us, share knowledge and experiences, and lead a healthy lifestyle because all these things positively contribute to society. At the same time, you should remember about your own individuality. I agree it is not right to rely on the help of others completely.
