Human Metrics Questionnaire Essay
The purpose of this paper is to consider the results of Human Metrics Questionnaire and learning styles survey from personal and managerial perspectives. The results of Human Metrics Questionnaire can be successfully applied for management purposes, for example, for career development issues, teambuilding, leadership, assessment of new candidates and decision-making (Wilde, 2008). Human Metrics Questionnaire is a Jung Typology test which “classifies” people according to 16 personality types (Foot & Hook, 2008). Such pairs of traits as extroverted/introverted, sensing/intuitive, thinking/feeling and judging/perceiving types are considered.
According to this questionnaire, my personality type is ENFI, also called “the teacher” (Foot & Hook, 2008). Main features of the character are moderate extravercy, moderate intuition, moderate feelings and strongly expressed judging. This type of personality is referred to as very successful at managing people issues, great at group discussions and rather focused on the needs of others rather on own needs.
I have personally noticed the above-mentioned features, but did not realize that their combination formed a “teaching” and “managerial” type. This survey helped me in understanding what types of professions and activities are most appropriate for me. Also, it provided an overview of the balance of different character features, and in my opinion, I should address the over-judging tendencies in my personality. Thus, this test also outlines a possible direction for self-perfection.
According to the results of the learning style survey, there is a perfect balance between my left and right brain hemispheres. I am both visual and kinesthetic learner at most, and have almost equal skill of auditory learning. For comparison, visual and kinesthetic scores of the survey were 12, while auditory score was 11. This means that I can successfully deliver and accept information using all three channels (Konig, 2007).
Regarding management issues, a successful manager should understand the features of own managerial style and realize own compatibility with colleagues and employees. In case when the learning styles within the collective are varied, the manager should use all three styles to reach maximum understanding with the staff (Konig, 2007). Thus, I can reach mot team members as a manager since all learning styles and styles of delivering information are equally comfortable for me.
These self-assessments were very useful for me from a personal and professional points of view, since they provided deeper understanding of own abilities and outlined the directions for optimal self-realization and self-development.
