In the modern world there are many issues and problems that have to be solved. For example, if to take human rights to live the way they want and to be happy, the issue is Gay Marriage: Why Don’t They Have Their Rights Yet? Personally I am in favor of gay marriage rights.
I think that it is essential to struggle and to have courage to protect the values and to live the way a person wants, and does not harm others. If a person does not harm other people and wants to have a family and be accepted in society- is there a lot of wrong and unjust? That is why I believe in equality in certain aspects for all people and I encourage everyone to think about the life of these people, who are forced to hide, who are killed and who are not respected because of their sexual preferences. Have anyone ever thought that one of your friends and even family members can be a homosexual?
For example, women and African Americans have gained their rights, and now it is the homosexual’s turn. After the statistics and the parades it resulted that there are so many homosexuals in the world that the issue is rather serious. I think that there have to be adapted certain laws to facilitate their lives, as these people study, work and give birth and they also have the right to be happy. There are certain human rights that have to be protected and laws have to adapt to the current situation in order to provide people with comfort and best conditions, as stated in Gay-rights movement. African women have struggled and sometimes with the help if international organizations they have managed to change things for the better. And now it is even hard to compare for who it will be easier to obtain the rights- for African Women or for homosexuals.
Around the world, homosexuals, lesbians and transgender people routinely face violations of their human rights. More than in 80 countries homosexuality remains a criminal offense, and in seven countries – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Sudan and Yemen – homosexual relationship may even lead to death.
These days the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Government of France and the Netherlands decided to celebrate the anniversary of drawing attention to discrimination against homosexuals. They had prepared document requires to stop executions, arbitrary arrests and detention of homosexuals and transsexuals. Syria, speaking on behalf of 60 countries, stated that the laws of each country should be respected, and stated that the adoption of the declaration may lead to the legitimization of other criminal acts such as pedophilia.
In a society, homosexuals are discriminated against, the degree of which varies by country. By the year 2006, in most developed countries homosexuals are not persecuted by law. Moreover, gay rights are enshrined in law. However, criminal liability for homosexuals remains in Iran, Egypt and several countries in Asia and Africa. For example, in 2005 Iran had been hanged two gay teenagers 16 and 18 – Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni. Nevertheless, even in those states, some liberal politicians are in favor of mitigating the legislation (in particular, the Iranian President Mohammed Khatami). It should be noted that laws criminalizing homosexual men were lifted to Israel in 1981, in Germany – in 1994. Persistent negative attitudes towards homosexuals are widely distributed at the household level, as stated in Lesbian, gay, and bisexual issues.
In the modern world there is a social movement for gay rights. Movement seeking recognition of equality, which means the right to marriage between homosexuals, the abolition of punishment for homosexuality, the abolition of provisions defining homosexuality as a pathology, the removal of restrictions on the profession for homosexuals. This movement opposed to the various policies, including the anti-gay movement. So, in 2006, U.S. President George W. Bush addressed the U.S. Senate to adopt a constitutional amendment banning marriage between persons of the same sex. According to experts surveyed by RBC daily, the transformation of homosexuality from the “biological” in the “cultural” phenomenon can lead the American public to a serious confrontation, but “the trend towards the legalization of same-sex marriages in the U.S. – is the phenomenon of the same order as the tolerance of Europeans to pedophilia”.
In some countries the rights of the homosexuals are respected more, and more things are allowed to them. For example, homosexuals can create a stable pair, similar to heterosexual partnerships. Sometimes they even marry. In some countries: the Netherlands, the United States (Massachusetts), Germany (partnership), the UK, and others such marriages are legal.
In some countries, homosexuals can adopt a family and raise children, as stated in Same-Sex Marriage, Civil Unions and Domestic Partnerships.
