Essence of HRM Essay
In actuality, HRM is equally important in both private and public sectors of economy. Therefore, organizations operating in different sectors of the economy should develop effective HRM strategies. However, to meet this goal, organizations need to understand adequately the essence of HRM. In this respect, it is worth mentioning the fact that HRM was traditionally concerned with the development of effective human resource policies and strategies. Specialists argue that hRM uman resource management (HRM) involves the effective management of people to achieve organizational goals (Greenwood, 2002). The achievement of organizational goals was always prior to the individual goals but, in the contemporary environment, organizational goals are often inseparable from individual goals of each employee and manager and one of the major points of the contemporary HRM is meeting goals of both organizations and individuals working in these organizations or human resources. Therefore, managers working in the field of human resources should focus on meeting needs of both organizations and human resources and the more efficient the performance of employees is the more successful is the organizational performance and development.
On the other hand, human resource managers should be aware of the fact that, regardless of the sector their organization operates in, conflicts within the organization are always possible and it is the efficient HRM that may prevent or minimize the risk of conflicts within organizations. In such a situation, many organizations pay a particular attention to their HR departments and they attempt to develop new, efficient HR strategies that can help them to maximize their performance. At the same time, taking into consideration the high level of changeability of the contemporary business environment, many organizations have to adapt to these changes and change their HRM respectively to the changing environment. At this point, it is important to dwell upon specificities of organizations operating in the public and private sector and focus on specificities of their HRM.
