Essay on Spirituality
Question 1
It is known that spiritual persons and religious persons are different in their nature. Some religious persons may have no spiritual mind. To tell the truth, I am not a spiritual person. I am a religious person. Everybody knows that there are many religions in the world, but spiritual path is common for all people no matter what their religious beliefs are. This fact means that spiritual path can be common for all religions. I make the following connections between being religious and being spiritual in my life: I try to be spiritual in my nature, but, at the same time, I try to follow the major religious principles, maintain the established religious traditions and, of course, love God, the Creator. I realize that spirituality is a difficult way for me, as well as for many other people in this world. I will make everything possible to follow marital spirituality. I know that marital spirituality can help me “to discover the ways in which, through our fidelity to the spiritual discipline of faithful marital living, we discover our truest identity before God” (Gaillardetz 19).
Question 2
It is known that the doctrine of Trinity teaches all people to consider God as a divine source. God exists in three divine creatures: Father, Son and Spirit. I did not find the presentation of God as Trinity a challenge to my conventional view of God. I have always considered that God has a divine nature and that God is represented as Trinity. It is very important for me to have a communion with God in my relationships with other people. God loves all people and wants us to love each other, avoid conflicts, wars, violence and discrimination. I found Trinity consoling in the following way: people have an opportunity to refer to Father, Son and Spirit in their prayers. It is very important to refer to St. Paul’s words: “God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us”, and Christ died for all sinners (Gaillardetz 29).
