Should Euthanasia Be Legal in Every State?
I want everyone who will read this story to answer this question before reading. What is euthanasia and is it necessary? A lot of people never think of death? Life is the most important and beautiful think for all of us. A mom- to with her baby lying under her heart dreams about the moment she will meet her baby. She thinks about what he or she will look like, how he or she will grow up and what kind of person he or she becomes! And of course no one ever thinks about possible death of a baby about his or her sufferings from an incurable disease or about the situation when he or she becomes a burden for the relatives when he or she gets old. We are scared when we think about such things. Few people understand the concept of euthanasia. I`d like to give two examples from real life and at the end of my story I`ll try to summarize my personal altitude to the artificial cessation of human life and to the legalization of euthanasia.
The first example looks rather common. Hit’s take an average family in a small town of Ukraine. The things were humming and the life of this family looked like life of other families, where home, work and school were present. They always smiled and thanked God for every day they lived. But one day there youngest daughter fell down from a log during her walk and hit her head severely. Hike other children of her age she didn`t pay special attention to the episode. Two months after the accident the child started filing weak losing conscious ness and suffering severe headaches. The parents look the alarm and after numerous investigations analyzes and medical consultations a horrible diagnosis was made and months of the girl’s life were determined. Of course, the parents were desperate, they were seized by panic and thought they would lost their daughter soon. In this situation I`d like to ask you what should be done? Or is worth fighting?! The girl`s mother did not give up and began to knock all the doors. New medical consultations were convened a course of treatment lased for many years. Strength of the mother, the family and the child were on the wane. Celt seemed that life of the family has turned into hell and sometimes they just wanted to stop it. But they never thought about abandoning their struggle for the girl`s life. And the miracle happened. The doctors managed to cure the girl and gave her a chance. By the way, this grew up and became a happy mother and a happy wife! I gave these examples in order to answer the question whether the life is worth fighting even if you have an incurable disease. After all, miracles happen and a medical error is possible. And what will happen if euthanasia is legalized in every state and relatives know about it when they feel desperate? What is they know that there is an injection that could stop the sufferings of a patient and their own sufferings…
In my opinion a horrible mistake can be made, a parson`s life can be taken without giving this person a chance to bight for it. I`m convinced that a lot of people shall disagree with me, saying that I misunderstood the concept of euthanasia that it is prescribed only if the diagnosis is 100% proved and the person himself asks for a «fatal injection». That it is prescribed when a person can’t suffer and make others suffering that the patient should be in sound mind and adequately assess his or her chances to recover. Only God may decide who should live and who should die, a man can just be a mediator by giving life, but by no means can claim someone`s life. By legalized euthanasia, we can give humanity a brutal weapon for murder.
No matter how rigid would the state control the prescription of a death injection the dishonest people will always manage to bypass the procedure of prescription of euthanasia. Of course, it is impossible to discard the fact that there are a lot of incurable diseases. Some people can`t afford the treatment; others give up, waiting for death and asking to stop their sufferings.
And of course I have to give another example from read life. A young girl was diagnosed with cancer just on the eve of her wedding. The daughter asked the parents to abandon the treatment and the waste of money. This girl just not stand the sufferings and decided to do the most horrible thing to commit a suicide. What she felt and what she thought about falling down, like a bird with broken wings? What ideas were in her head in these fractions of seconds? We will never know. Taking into account what happened to this girl you might think that euthanasia is an option which will help to avoid such cases. The legalization of euthanasia a chance add a hope for incurable patients? Or is it an instrument for killing? This is a philosophical question which can`t be answered….
The last example prates that euthanasia is an option. Of course one cannot be one hundred percent critical in this issue. After all we will never understand how people suffer and what they feel suffering a horrible pain from a disease and from realizing the fact they have not much time left. Perhaps the legalization of euthanasia is necessary to avoid suicides among such patients. To speak frankly when I started writing about euthanasia I thought it would be easy to answer whether it should be legalized. But now having considered too entirely different cases I understand that this question made me feel completely restarted. It made me think about what death is. Without any doubt I would fight to the end. Anyway, I`m an opponent of the legalization of euthanasia.
